I’ve always loved the concept of Advent Calendars. There’s something special and magical about those little treats hidden behind those little doors – and the idea of a secret little something to be unwrapped every day really is a wonderful way to build the excitement towards Christmas, not to mention a fun tradition as well!

As the years roll by some of these types of tradition can be lost when we grow up, and it seems a real shame to lose some of that magic and wonder. And really there’s no reason at all why something such as an Advent Calendar can’t be revamped and repackaged for grown-ups, crafty grown-ups… grown-ups like you and me!

So one day in November last year I dreamed up a fun idea for a event. I didn’t know if it would work, or if anyone would be interested. I approached some crafty friends, and others recruited themselves – everyone loved the idea! Behind the scenes I worked hard to put together something rather different and very special. After much organising, coordinating and planning, I’m really thrilled to finally bring to you a very special, very fun, very festive series! It was *hugely* popular, and so, by popular demand, I just had to bring it back again this year!

Advent Calendar Extravaganza 2016
 
Advent Calendar Extravaganza is -the- festive event of the season! This ‘hop with a twist’ was dreamed up by Taheerah Atchia and features surprise destinations each day! Joining in the fun with Taheerah are ONE HUNDRED special guests – each serving up some fantastic Christmas inspiration! Just like an Advent Calendar, you’ll never know where you’re going to be visiting next until you ‘open the door’!

Ho! Ho! Ho! Santa Card by Taheerah Atchia

I have really been enjoying colouring cute images with Prismacolors lately and this Santa from the Here Comes Santa Claus set is no exception! He’s so adorable! I stamped him onto kraft cardstock and coloured him to give a vintage feel, adding a few glittery details with a Sakura Clear Stardust pen.

I adhered him to a panel stamped with images from the Santa’s Gift Tag and Sweet Treats – Christmas sets, then mounted my panel onto a kraft card base stamped with the holly image from Sweet Treats – Christmas. Some Stickles for the berries were the perfect finishing touch, and the extra cream dots really add a great pop that contrasts with the base but marries with the panel perfectly!

  10. Santa’s coloured on kraft? Simply fabulous (you’re a prismacolour pro!), as s your background stamping on kraft. My kraft simply doesn’t get enough attention, so thank you for that first piece of inspiration! Second piece: using the tag sentiments as part of your background. Very clever and very eye-catching! Third: glitter!!! Fourth: the overall festive-y, vintage-y impact! Truly charming and delightful! Forgot to add in my comment for Day 1: love the click-on images! So artistic!

  15. Love your card design! The gift tag stamp is gorgeous and really fits with your vintage Santa. I must try colouring on Kraft! I keep saying that then forget to try it. I’m enjoying having the grown up advent to look forward to each day! Thank you so much.
